Homemade naan is a delightful Indian flatbread that brings the warmth of traditional cooking right into your kitchen. Made with simple ingredients, this fluffy bread is kneaded to perfection, allowing it to rise beautifully. It has a nice slightly crispy outside creating a perfectly charred exterior while maintaining a soft, chewy interior. Often brushed with melted butter or garlic for added flavor, naan makes an excellent accompaniment to a variety of Indian dishes, from rich curries to savory stews. Its versatility and comforting texture ensure that it is a beloved staple in many households, whether served with a lavish meal or enjoyed on its own as a tasty snack.

Ingredients:

  • 350 grams chicken breast

  • 400 grams uncooked pasta

  • 350 grams cherry tomatoes

  • 350 grams broccoli

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 1 big white onion (or 2 small ones)

  • 250 grams cream cheese

  • 5 tablespoons pesto

  • Mayonaise

  • salt

  • Cheese to sprinkle on top (optional)

Directions:

Step 1: Mix the yeast and the water, then set aside for later.

Step 2: In a separate bowl add your flour, salt, sugar, butter, yoghurt and lastly your yeast mixture

Step 3: Knead in a stand mixer on medium speed until it forms a well mixed dough (about 10 minutes)

Step 4:

Grab a big bowl and brush it with olive oil, when your dough is done transfer it to your oiled bowl. Place a towel on top and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it doubled in size.

Step 5:

While the dough rises, start on your flavoured butter.

Chop the coriander in small pieces and grate your garlic, mix these into the melted butter and set aside for later.

Step 6: Once your dough is risen, divide in equal balls, roll them out in your desired shape and make sure they're about 1,5 cm thick.

Step 7: Cook on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes on each side. I personally prefer a cast iron for this dish)

Step 8:

When your Naan is done, brush them with the butter mixture while they're still hot and enjoy eating them while still warm!
