Dutch pancakes, or better known as "pannenkoeken," are a delightful treat and perfect for any occasion. As a dutchie myself, these are served for breakfast, lunch or even dinner! These delicate pancakes are made from a simple batter but result in a wonderfully light and flavourful dish. They are traditionally way larger than American pancakes, and offer a canvas for both sweet and savory fillings. Cooked to golden perfection in a hot skillet, pannenkoeken can be enjoyed with an array of toppings such as fresh fruit, powdered sugar, or warm syrup, or for savory, topped with cheese or bacon! Making them a versatile dish for everything. Whether rolled or folded, each bite offers a taste of Dutch tradition, inviting everyone to gather around the table and savor the comforting flavors of homemade goodness.

Ingredients:

  • Grams flower

  • 2 eggs

  • 20 grams vanilla sugar

  • 200 ml milk

  • Butter to bake the pancakes

Directions:

Step 1 To a bowl add the eggs, milk and vanilla sugar and whisk well.

Step 2 When fully combined ad your flour little by little until you have a smooth consistency with no clumbs.

Step 3 Heat up a little butter in a pan and pour in a thin layer of your batter. When the edges start to brown its time to flip. (bake for about 2 minutes on each side.)

Step 4 When all your pancakes are done, enjoy them plane as they are or serve with some powdered sugar. If you want to make it extra fancy you can add fresh fruit and whipped cream on top. Enjoy!!
